Skippy's obedience exam

Posted on: December 10th, 2010 at 11:34 PM.

(balloon)Skippy had her birthday last monday and turned 11 years old!
She is very agile for her age and is still active doing agility and frisbee. Still, we want to do the right thing for her and take things a bit slower in these action sports. Because we still want to give her just as much attention as we used to and want to offer her new challenges we have started to do obedience with her at our local dog club, KC Delft. Exersizes are trained with the clicker. On November 30, in the snow, Skippy and Elise participated in an obedience test. Tonight we got the results: 102 out 110 points and the qualification Excellent. (yea)
Skippy and Elise will now participate in the official obedience test for beginners of the Dutch Kennel Club in March.

Smooch injured

Posted on: October 4th, 2010 at 6:29 PM.

We had an appointment for Smooch today at a Veterinary Specialist Centre. She made a wild jump and has injured her front paw. Probably a muscle or tendon has been damaged. Of course she will get a lot of time to heal. This means no more intensive agility classes or matches for our fanatic little lady for a while.

In memoriam Fran

Posted on: August 22th, 2010 at 10:15 PM.

Today we had to make the hard decision to let our dear Fran go. Last night she had a big epileptic seizure. During the night her condition worsened a lot, probably due to a brain tumor. She could not drink or walk anymore and she could not find any rest. The veterinarian did not expect any recovery. She was put to sleep peacefully at our home.

Fran was a very sweet dog, never did any harm. She was very precious to us and a part of our family. The last year she was deaf but other than that she was in a surprisingly good condition for her age, until last night. At this moment it is very hard to believe she is no longer around.

Somewhere along the road

Someone waits for me

Beyond these present storms that blow

Waiting patiently

No secrets held in an open heart

A spirit that soars over mountains

Somewhere along the road

Someone waits for me
